The photo collages combine photographs that capture instances of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (South Africa 1996-1998), and focusses on women speaking about reconciliation and forgiveness during their testimonies, with anatomical drawings. Muscles that support the breath to flow for the voice to speak, muscles that tense and strain easily when burdened. By looking through the inside of the body at the outward gestures, the works emphasize that it was not only their voices, but also their bodies that spoke. Their gestures communicated both their loss and their agency.
